It is impossible to summarize 71 years of a life devoted to making. Here are some highlights: I cut up my mother's wedding dress to make doll clothes. At age 8, I learned to knit. I still have my childhood collection of marbles. I studied art at UNC-Chapel Hill and received a BFA in 1974. I earned an MFA in painting and drawing from Auburn University in 1979 and taught there for a few years afterward. My husband Tom and I moved to Wilmington, NC in 1984 where I worked as a scenic artist in the film industry. I was a founding board member and teacher for DREAMS of Wilmington, a non-profit organization that provides free arts education for underprivileged youth. After raising two artsy daughters, I quickly moved into full time artist mode. My current work combines contact botanical printing, knitting, and stitching with a painterly feel.
