This once stately home is being reclaimed by mother nature as it sits abandoned. The Kudzu blankets the home hiding it from plain sight. There are litterally hundreds of thousands of abandoned homes across America. Some estimates indicate that there is at least one abandoned home, (not an empty home) for nearly every homeless person in the USA. Add to that, abandoned factories, warehouses and office buildings, many of which could be examined for potentially being renovated into housing. With the homeless population growing and workers wages failing to keep up with inflation, more and more individuals and families are finding it nearly impossible to keep a roof over their heads. In 2021, 37.93 million Americans were living at or below the poverty level. The expectation of owning a home in America is quickly eroding, becoming the American dream that was.
