The collaborative team of Shaun and Lucy Cassidy are proposing to build a large scale multi component sculpture. The work titled ”Wishing”, will function like a timeline or narrative with distinct sculptural elements placed along a twenty-five foot long horizontal beam. The beam, and unifying sage green color, like a story, connects the disparate parts together in order that an imaginative narrative can be constructed by the viewer. These symbolic and dreamlike elements, constructed in steel and ceramics, will take the viewer along a walking journey designed to provoke memories triggered by the associations and resonances of each of the sculptural parts. Parts include empty ceramic boots, an empty doorway, a miniature house, the foundations of a house stood vertically, a needle, a field of tall grass, and Chinese Bi funeral discs at each end of the work. Rosemary and sage will sit in vessels at each end of the sculpture in recognition of the herbs historical association with memory.
