This series is an extension of an ongoing body of work that is intended to overwhelm the viewer with the reality of the subject. When I was in 8th grade Columbine High School was massacred by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. My brother would have been a senior at Columbine High School at the time of the shooting had we not moved. Columbine has become synonymous with school shooting and now school shootings have become almost conventional. After the May 24th Rob elementary school shooting this year, I felt that I needed to make a statement. This work overwhelms the viewer with images of children from yearbooks. The method of creating this work also is a personal and physical sacrifice and all the pieces must be created one after the other without stopping. As the artist I feel this sacrifice is offered to the victims as atonement for their sacrifice. Much of my work involves children and the journey though childhood and I feel that I must, as an artist, give voice to the voiceless.
