I am a current undergraduate multi-media artist who explores and discusses black identity, trauma, beauty, and connection through art. With portraits as my approach, I experiment with abstract linework and bold colors to communicate the unseen. Having grown up in predominantly white spaces as a first-generation college student, I have always felt out of place in some of the spaces that I occupy. However, with my art, I highlight the importance of healing black trauma, praising black beauty, and establishing a sense of community in order to grow as a whole. After feeling out of place in my academic studies for so long, I recognize the gravity of the conversations we are not having and I try to analyze them the best way I know how: through the creation of representational and reflective art.
