The title "Always, Always Faithful, Always There for You" is part of a quote by the late Anthony Bourdain, in which he is speaking about the comforting, inviting nature of a Waffle House. He says, "It is indeed, marvelous, an irony-free zone where everything is beautiful and nothing hurts; where everybody, regardless of race, creed, color, or degree of inebriation, is welcomed--its warm yellow glow a beacon of hope and salvation, inviting the hungry, the lost, the seriously hammered all across the South to come inside. A place of safety and nourishment. It never closes, it is always faithful, always there for you." When creating this painting, I was thinking about this quote, and the ways that our environment shapes our experiences when eating a meal. The food we eat is important, but the places we are and the company we are with are equally as important. Sharing meals with others is one thing that we have in common universally, which is why it is such a meaningful part of our existence.
