I am a Charleston-based studio artist at Redux Contemporary Art Center, where my work is inspired by my surroundings and travel. A pivotal moment in my practice came after hearing Cambodian choreographer Sophiline Cheam Shapiro speak about her all-femaile production of "Pamina Devi," inspiring me to appreciate what's in front of me and paint it in a new light.
While studying in Barcelona, I juxtaposed local cherries with the hanging laundry on the skyline, often drawing inspiration from the interplay of industrial landscapes and nature. Over the past 15 years, I've been part of several artist co-ops, including Antfarm in Raleigh, NC, and a historic train station studio in Carrboro, N.C.
I continually pursue art education, having studied in Venice, New York, Barcelona, and San Francisco, along with a residency at Penland School of Craft. My art practice is about growth and sharing my work with the public.
