Artist: Jodi Nuttall | Location: Huntsville, AL
Huntsville, AL
Jodi Nuttall is a Huntsville, Alabama artist using soft pastels to paint landscapes and still lifes, capturing a mood and a moment in time. She chooses what to paint based on the feeling of a place or subject, often conveying a sense of peace and stillness.
She enjoys the immediacy and the velvety texture of soft pastels and the directness of moving the pigment around with her fingers. Jodi's work is often mistaken for photographs until the viewer gets closer. One of her most popular subjects is raindrops in the foreground with the blurry scene beyond.
Jodi has taken a few painting classes, but she is mostly self-taught. Most of her work is based on reference photos that she, her husband or friends have taken around the U.S. and England.
Her work has been displayed in Alabama art galleries, the Huntsville Museum of Art, art festivals, and on the cover of the Huntsville paper, Valley Planet. Her work can be found in Studio 308 in Lowe Mill in Huntsville, Alabama.
