92% of military spouses are female. These women relocate every 2-3 years. They leave families, friends, and careers to support their service members. I capture this disruptive and transient lifestyle through figurative works ,with a process similar to their experiences: the chaotic and relentless cycle of breaking down and starting over. This painting is about the period after a PCS (military move). Mentally and emotionally, I still feel connected to my last community. I moved, but I expect to see my friends and people on the street, in the store, or at sporting events. I still expect them to pop in my back door unannounced, meet me for coffee, or a dog walk. But of course, we've all moved on. We're spread across states and countries. I know I'll create community and make friends - but until then, it can leave you feeling lost and unmoored. This painting is for every military spouse who found themselves in a new place and realized that even though they have friends - their friends are NOT here.
