"Drip" combines simulated drips, textures, and real paint elements to form imagery. By merging two-dimensional surfaces with three-dimensional chunks of paint, it creates a metaphor for the body's plasticity in modern surgical beauty techniques. My work explores our psychological relationships with societal messages about gender identity, particularly those shaped by mass media. I'm interested in how young women internalize these symbols. By analyzing popular culture, I deconstruct the portrayal of women as unattainable ideals, challenging norms and offering political and personal commentary. Where fashion photography creates visual harmony to prevent deeper questioning, my art introduces tension and discord. My work scrutinizes the storytelling power of mass media to influence behaviors in the pursuit of "unattainable" physical ideals. My art invites viewers to engage critically with underlying messages, confronting political and gender issues while challenging conventional narratives.
