Born in Richmond, VA, Jeffrey Deane Hall's work demonstrates a variety of interests as diverse as his own background. He received a BA in Studio Art and minored in Physics and Art History at the University of Richmond before continuing on to get his Masters at Virginia Commonwealth University. Jeffrey's work frequently deals with issues of communication and is highly influenced by the trompe l'oeil painters of the 19th C. both in the high degree of realism and deep symbolic meaning. His paintings were featured in the 100th issue and issue #160 of New American Painting.
Beyond painting, teaching has been a part of his practice for the past 30 years. Jeffrey is a husband and father of two talented young women as well the Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair and visual art instructor at Maggie L. Walker Governor's School.
