Jessica Summers received her BFA in 2-Dimensional Studies and Art Education from Bowling Green State University in 2004. After teaching high school art for six years in both Southern Indiana and Charlotte, North Carolina, Jessica moved back to Ohio in 2011, and pursued her MFA. In 2014, Jessica graduated with her MFA in 2-Dimensional studies from Bowling Green State University. In 2018 she moved to Fayetteville, Georgia, where she still lives, makes work and teaches private art lessons out of her home studio. Jessica's artwork has been included in many national exhibitions, solo, group and invitational shows throughout the United States.
Jessica's painterly yet realistic oil paintings aim to capture her girls' fleeting childhoods, celebrating moments of wonder, imagination and wildness. Some works are meant to serve as a witness to the beauty of the mundane while others are staged to express her own futile impulses to protect her girls from the outside world.
