My practice revolves around questioning the impact of online culture on my identity as a woman in my twenties. This piece began as a digital collage responding to the aesthetic trend among feminist artists of using images of growling (or as some might say, smiling) dogs. I paired this imagery with photographs of cake, confetti, and text messages from my archives that I manipulated and layered. Eventually, the piece entered the physical realm as a paint-by-diamonds, a popular craft. This crafting process allowed me to reflect on my emotions and feminine rage in the only way many women often do - by channeling it into something productive for my practice and career. In this way, the piece became a relic of my need to perform my emotions and ensure that no moment is wasted. Even though this work was a form of productive meditation, it took me over 300 hours, which begs the question: was it even worth it in the end?
