Wood, in my opinion, is the most versatile and innately beautiful medium. It is flexible, yet strong. It can be easily carved, bent, cut and shaped with imagination as the only limit. Wood naturally can be vividly colored, have dynamic texture or none at all. What some may consider imperfections in wood, I consider to be features, adding to the allure. Living sustainably is important to me. Wood is a natural, non-toxic, biodegradable and renewable resource. I take inspiration from things in everyday life that I see around me. Trying new techniques and things I have not done before is an integral part of my process. I often upcycle reclaimed wood to explore different ways of creating visually appealing forms. "Hooked" is made with over 2,100 segments of reclaimed maple and walnut.
