Leigh Sardine Press: Leigh Sabisch & Allison Koch

Sardine Press is a printmaking studio started by printmakers Allison Koch and Leigh Sabisch. Collectively, our work unavoidably deals with how we cope with a world that we find comically chaotic. Despite ourselves, the bones of the work we create deal with our personal, romantic, and physical relationships-- and undoubtedly, our relationships with ourselves. These issues are unique to the individual but unilaterally relatable. By working together as a team, we hope to demonstrate the importance of working in tandem and exercising the muscles that allow us to grow and adapt alongside another person. We hope that by creating large-scale works full of the energy and physicality that comes along with our subject matter, we can fill the viewer with our own understanding of ourselves but also bring out something in them.
