This multimedia installation examines artificial intelligence and the way these technologies are reorienting our relationship with images and language. The basis of this project is a working typeface created with the assistance of AI, giving us typographic form that leans into the "hallucinations" we've come to associate with AI-generated images. A play on the form of a typographic specimen, this installation includes a series of AI-generated pangrams, which are phrases that contain every letter of the alphabet at least once. The pangrams become repetitive and banal, echoing the constant stream of AI images we face now. The piece is also looking and watching, constructing form in real-time. As Franco Berardi writes, AI is like a "brain without organs." In contrast to the disembodiment of AI, this piece is anthropomorphic, with the web interface functioning as the brains of the piece, the tablet stands being the limbs and the cords being the blood vessels.
