Artist Statement

"PRIMAL SCREAM" attempts to render an Afrocentric--personally-belonging--version to the myriad of post-Renaissance visual interpretations of the Biblical Creation Story found in Genesis 1. It is Surrealistic in approach and style, and advances the belief that "creation" followed the Big Bang theory, was engineered by the god(s) of Africa, and that the first manifestations of earthly Nature and Humankind occurred on the continent of Africa. "PRIMAL SCREAM" leaves to the viewer's interpretation and conclusion whether the "scream" is in response to what the apples traditionally and theocratically signify (sin, knowledge of nakedness), or whether the god-entity Herself actually bites the forbidden fruit. But if Earth and Africa are distanced away, where can the Forbidden Fruit be located?
