I translate internal emotional experiences into a three-dimensional space. The visceral visual language of my practice abstracts the gut as a metaphor for physical and emotional processing.?In this work, "Processing Memory," I am manipulating sentimental fabrics into a winding intestinal form over a red kitchen chair. The futon cover fabric, and the used clothing stuffed inside, have years of memory instilled in its fibers for me. The wooden armature, the chair, has been taken out of the context of the matching table and chair set, an individual body separated. This work is about the unraveling that happens when one sits reminiscing a memory and wonders what happened. I invite the viewers to sit upon this seat, to activate the sculpture and their memory, to think about objects from their past and how emotions can be woven through material history.
