For my undergraduate program's senior exhibition, I created one thousand paper cranes, this process is called senbazuru. Creating one thousand paper cranes originates from an ancient Japanese legend which claims if one thousand paper cranes are created, a wish will be granted. The paper cranes you see in my work symbolize hope and all of the wishes I have made relating to my health. "Resisting the Pull" encapsulates how healing or moving on from something isn't as simple as stepping away. My depression is rooted deep in myself and even though I am currently content and in a healthy headspace, it still makes it difficult to treat myself with gentleness when issues surrounding my health inevitably arise.
