I am a contemporary, representational artist based in the southeastern US, working in watercolor, printmaking, and mixed-media. I am particularly fascinated by watercolor's luminous quality, savoring its unpredictable nature as both challenging and rewarding. During research on a pair of lost great-great-grandparents, I was disheartened by the scant information recorded for women. Frequently listed by nicknames and with maiden names omitted, their occupations were often reduced to generic labels like "housewife" or "domestic." Yet, I have also discovered stories in which the women's actual work helped their families survive and prosper. The goal of my current work is to shine a spotlight on the often overlooked narratives of the women who came before us, aiming to shed light on their quiet yet significant contributions to society. Through my art, I hope to amplify the voices of the unseen, inviting viewers to contemplate the profound resonance of untold stories and unnoticed legacies.
