Camden Goddard is an artist from North Georgia. Goddard holds is MFA from Florida State University, and is a professor of art for Young Harris College and Piedmont University. His methods of working involve the expanded field of painting.
Primarily a painter, Goddard both accepts and rejects the historical ideals in the canon of landscape painting. His latest work 'Southern/South: Of White or Wrong' draws inspiration from his deep ties to the region he calls home. Exploring complexities of identity in the post-antebellum South, Goddard contrasts the romanticized notions of Southern life with the contemporary realities of inequity and privilege. His paintings and installations prompt considerations of race, individual identity, and social systems.
