Nora Hartlaub's work examines the climate crisis and the roles of capitalism, consumerism, and tourism as key drivers of this emergency. She confronts resistance to patriarchal and inequitable systems through themes of repair, care, absurdity, and play. Her pieces have been exhibited in diverse venues, including the Center for Craft (Asheville, NC), (SCENE) Metrospace (Michigan State University, MI), Power Plant Gallery (Duke University, NC), Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (NY), and Terrain Biennial (Asheville, NC). In 2020, she participated in the NC Artist's Exhibition at CAM Raleigh, juried by Nat Trotman, Curator of Performance and Media at the Guggenheim, who awarded her a Juror's Award. Nora holds an MFA from Western Carolina University and a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art. She has lived in Asheville, NC, since 2006 and currently shares her home there with her dog, cat, and partner.
