"Stigmata" is one compartment of a body of work exploring an emotional narrative around Opportunity/Offer, fear of the unknown, empty promises and self sabotage. Otherworldly hands reach from an undefined 'other side' surrounded by pink ceramic petals to bestow gift or call, often in the shape of a vessel. The crystal vessel is empty as it is offered through the wound of a stigmata, refracting light, becoming a physical manifestation of that light. The vessel inspired the form of the hand, built around this preexisting piece as means to absolve its abandonment while recontextualizing its function from chime to font. A blue velvet doorway frames the point of breach, flowing to the floor and pooling at the feet of the viewer, both reaching and barring access to the empty gift presented. Offers are as much threats as opportunities, intentions of the other party cloaked in gathered mystery. To take the offer unto oneself is to transform and become part of this 'other side'.
