I was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. I received my BA in Studio Art at Furman University, where I also completed a teaching fellowship. I then completed an artist residency at the New Harmony Clay Project in New Harmony, IN. Currently, I am an MFA candidate at the University of South Carolina, pursuing a career in teaching.
I have been crafting objects ever since I was a child. My formal attraction to studying naturalistic representation allows me to ground my sculptures in reality, and then push beyond into the surreal. While my works exist as physical objects in our natural world, I want them to appear to defy natural laws, and become otherworldly.
Visually, I am drawn to the highly crafted and the uncanny. My works are expressionistic in nature, drawing upon past experiences, emotions, fears, and unanswered questions. My work allows my emotions to take up space, and explore facets of myself in a cathartic and healing way.
