Tony Coppage

Tony Coppage was born in Atlanta, Georgia. His earliest art influences were artists like James Hughes, George Mendes, Ernie Barnes and Norman Rockwell. He attended Berea College with a focus on figurative and portraiture painting in oils. His later influences include artists Jack Whitten, Jacob Lawrence, Henri Linton and Kevin Cole. His work is often figurative and intended to make a social statement or provoke a thought. Currently he is creating a series in acrylic and mixed media on canvas focused on the state of education, politics and social justice in America,
