Artist: Erin Duffie | Location: Sumter, SC
Sumter, SC
Erin Duffie earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Columbia College Chicago, and later moved to Sumter, SC from Chicago, IL in 2008. Erin has been an active member of the Sumter Artists Guild for over 15 years and has contributed to several city and county public art installations. She is a passionate part of guild recruitment, eager to foster new and emerging artists to ensure the guild's continuation into the next generation. As with many artists, creativity is an outlet for Erin's anxiety and depression. Working with tedious, repetitive motions and shapes helps focus her thoughts and quiet her mind. This meditative creation process often means dozens of hours can go by when making complex drawings, shaping paper, gluing tiny items, etc. Dozens of hours where those anxious and depressive feelings take a backburner to peace and joy. Engaging in this personal method of creative expression in this way is the happy place Erin goes to just be.
