Interdependency of species within ecosystems is critical to sustaining healthy environments. Predator/prey and other relationships among animals depends on balance where seemingly insignificant creatures play an important role. I use intentional scale discrepancies to reflect this. The juxtaposition of very small and very large creatures in similar size, I hope, will inspire reflection on the natural world and its complexity. Making the sculptures appear corroded in rust places them in an archeological context and is a reminder of the fragility of life and the balance of nature.
