Pencils, fine line pens, alcohol markers, and glitter gel pens

Ever since I was little, I have loved to draw mermaids. Their originality, personality, and all their little details fascinate me. In my drawing, "The Reef," each mermaid has her own design to stand out from each other like the colors of their tails. The mermaids are all decorated with things you would find in the ocean like I imagine they would be in real life. I also added some modern items like the shell compact the pink mermaid is holding. For humor, I drew the "catfish" in the yellow mermaid's arms. My piece is set in a coral reef in the Pacific Ocean, so I made all the coral and fish from that location. The fish in the scene are Orange Clownfish, Yellow Teardrop Butterflyfish, Garibaldi Damselfish, Blue Tangs, and Moorish Idols. I started my piece with a pencil sketch, then went over it with Prismacolor fine line pens, then colored it with Prismacolor alcohol markers before adding highlights with glitter gel pens. I wanted "The Reef" to stand out, so I used eye-popping colors, unique poses, and lots of little details. I hope you will see my vision of a whimsical undersea world.
