I have been drawing since I could hold a crayon--it was the only natural choice for me to take art as my major in college, and I have a BFA in Illustration and an MFA in Graphic Design from Georgia Southern. When my son Merlin was born in 1983, I opened my studio Angel Illuminations: Inspired creations that open a Door to higher Realms. My first concentrations were children's art, devotional pieces and fantasy; I also created illustrations for magazines, commissioned portraits, designed websites and business materials (cards, letterheads, logos, etc). I love to tell a story with my art, to lead the viewer into thinking deeper, to see the spiritual side of life and love, to inspire, to make people smile. When I moved to Beijing for three years to teach English, my studio went with me and I painted The "Sacred Images" series. I re-established the studio when I returned to Savannah and updated my studio website, where you can buy original work, prints, cards and t-shirts with my images on them. Most recently I worked on 31 hand-colored drawings for the InkTober 2016 Challenge and introduced the two main characters for a children's book series I am working on called "Merlin's World"--the drawings are up for viewing on my website, Facebook page, Pinterest and Twitter. Since China and Chinese culture are a life-long passion, I have also been working on new pieces with this theme.
