I received my BFA (Sculpture) from the University of Massachusetts, 1978, my MFA (Fiber Arts) from the University of South Carolina, 1991. In 1980, I began making woven tapestries, then combined these with handmade paper pieces, and then drawings. Group exhibitions include: "The 24th Contemporary Crafts Exhibition," Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington, DE, 1982; various ACC Craftfairs from 1980 through 1990, "The Fabric of Life: Contemporary American Works in Fiber," The Society of Arts and Crafts, Boston, MA, 1991, "Craft of the Carolinas," Gibbes Museum, 1993; "Triennial 98," South Carolina State Museum, Columbia, SC; "Contemporary Charleston 2004" at the Waterfront City Gallery, Charleston, SC; "Lowcountry Artist’s Book Meet," Blue Bicycle, 2013; "On and off the Page," Waterfront City Gallery, 2016. My work is included in the Contemporary Carolina Collection at MUSC’s Ashley River Tower. Solo shows include "Woven Drawings," Spartanburg Museum of Art, 1999; "Drawings: Torn and Woven," Smith University Center Gallery, Francis Marion University, Florence, SC, 2000; and "Pages from an Unfinished Manuscript," City Gallery at Dock Street Theatre, Charleston, SC, 2004.
In the 1990s I began teaching around SC as an artist-in-residence, and as adjunct faculty at The College of Charleston and Trident Technical College. Since 1997, I have been teaching art full-time at Fort Johnson Middle School, James Island, SC.
