Nora Hartlaub (b. 1977, NM) is a multi-media artist living and working on the outer banks of North Carolina. Hartlaub holds a BFA in Fiber and Material studies from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and a MFA from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. Her works exploring the effect systems of power have on the body, culture, and environment have been shown in both group and solo exhibitions, including the Terrain Biennial in 2015.
In Cleveland, OH, she participated in the collective radical music and art venue, Speak in Tongues. She has played in multiple experimental and rock groups as a bassist/vocalist in addition to creating installations, sculptures, videos, paintings, prints, and drawings. She currently teaches a variety of lecture and studio courses for the community college and university in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
