Julia Morrisroe is an artist and Associate Professor in painting and drawing. Morrisroe holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Washington.
Morrisroe's paintings and drawings are a reflection on the question that underlies all her work-what does it take to make a painting today? Morrisroe has exhibited her work throughout the United States and abroad. Her work was included in the national traveling exhibition “Comic Release: Negotiating Identity for the New Generation” which originated at Carnegie Mellon University, (PA). Morrisroe's site-specific projects have been commissioned at Purdue University, Bakehouse Gallery, Carnegie Mellon University and SPACES, and South Bend Museum of Art (IN).
Morrisroe serves on the Conference Committee of the College Art Association and has received grants from the State of Florida, Michigan and City of Chicago and was commissioned to create a public art project for the Jacksonville Airport.
