Adelia Shirer Ruth, native of Georgetown, SC, workshopped with Ilona Smithkin of New York, studying impressionistic art. She also studied watercolor with Nancy Bourne of Georgetown, SC, Wanda Coleman of Saluda, SC, and Anna Kay Singley of Prosperity, SC. More recently she studied animal portraits and floral contours with Pat Weaver of Dade County, FL, and dynamic florals with Brigit O'Conner of California. Adelia's watercolor has won 3rd place in the Newberry, SC Agricultural Expo Expedition. In 2012, her watercolor was juried into the SC State Fair Exhibits of the Arts. In 2013, she won 2nd place in the amateur watercolor division of the SC State Fair and in 2014 & 2016 her work was juried into the prestigious ArtFields of Lake City, SC competition. In 2015, the ArtFields watercolor won 1st place in the North Charleston Arts Festival and in 2016 her "Arts My Bag" watercolor won 3rd place there and was purchased by the city of North Charleston. In the last five years, Adelia's art has exhibited in many arts and crafts festivals all over SC. Her art is currently exhibited at The Added Touch in Saluda, SC, The Gallery in Newberry, SC, The Picture Place in Columbia, SC and Newberry Hospital, Newberry, SC. Adelia and her husband, the Reverend E. DeVon Ruth, now live in Saluda, SC.
