Sandy Singletary is from York, SC. She graduated from Winthrop University with a BFA in ceramics in 2008, and a MFA in sculpture in 2011. Singletary has exhibited in juried and group exhibitions throughout the Southeast, including the SECAC conference in Savannah, GA, in 2012, and Artfields in Lake City, SC, in 2014. In 2015, she won Best of Show at the Festival of Flowers Juried Exhibition in Greenwood, SC, and participated in a 2-person exhibit at the Upstairs Gallery in Tryon, NC. In 2016, she exhibited in the 80 x 80 exhibit at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC, and in 2017 at the Rock Hill Art Council. She most often works with porcelain or a combination of porcelain and a secondary material, such as paper, steel or wood to create large scale objects or installations that are focused on communicating autobiographical facts. In addition to working sculpturally, Singletary currently teaches both beginning and advanced studio classes at Lander University where she is an Associate Professor of Art.
