Charles Eady is a mixed-media artist and author who paints the history of South Carolina. Eady grew up in Fairfax, SC, and graduated from Claflin University, Orangeburg, SC. He received a BA in Art Education and currently lives in Florida.
Since 2009, he has been writing and researching free blacks who lived in the early south. Eady has found many details during his research; those documents are often silk-screened and collaged onto his works.
He has been featured in newspapers for merging historical research into art. His book is shelved in various libraries including the main library in Columbia, SC. His art has been exhibited at museums, colleges, and libraries. He recently received an award at the Webber Museum.
Eady seeks to assign resilience and a voice to a population silenced from history, whose lives have not been acknowledged in schoolbooks. His works offer records deconstructing false concepts about the south.
