I studied sculpture under Jerry Noe and Robert Howard at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Upon graduation in 1986, I opened a neon studio and have been making neon art and manufacturing neon signage since then.
Collaborative works with Louis St. Lewis led to successful shows in Durham, NC and New Orleans, LA as well as continued work for Live Nation across the country, embellishing venues and defining VIP rooms.
Sculptural work has focused on social equity issues using sound and motion to stimulate viewers' response and attention as the world struggles to address inequity.
New work integrates simplistic representation of imagery tied to Victorian concepts with twists geared to stimulate dialogue relevant to LGBTQIA+ concerns. Modern technology is disguised with mid-century re-purposed, vintage signage conveying direct messaging intended to stimulate discussion of topics germane to the struggles of marginalized peoples.
