Yrang Song was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. She received a B.F.A from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Tufts University and an M.F.A in Rinehart school of sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She currently lives and works in Madison, Alabama.
Song works across various media including drawings, sculptures, and performances that observe metaphysical topics arise from humans as meditative social animals and their relationships.
She received the Timothy F. Nichols Drawing Breath Award in 2010 for her interdisciplinary work, I Like Cheese, and the Dana Pond Award in May 2012 for Missing, which was in the group exhibition Medium without Measure at the Grossman Gallery in Boston.
