Travis Arthur Johnson is an artist and educator living in Gastonia, NC. After receiving his BA degree in Fine Art from the University of the South in 2004, Travis began his career in Art Education. He is currently the Upper School Art Teacher at Gaston Day School in Gastonia, NC.
Outside the classroom, Travis is a member of the Gaston County Art Guild and served on the Gastonia City Council's Arts Committee. He shows regularly in group, juried, and solo shows in the Charlotte area. Artistic accomplishments include selection as an ArtPop Street Gallery Class of 2022 artist, creating the logo for the South Carolina Century Farm Program, and painting murals for the Biological Sciences Department at Clemson University.
Travis is thankful for the support of his wife, Betsy, and of his daughters, Nora and Nat (known as the apprentices), who join him regularly in the studio. When not art making, the family enjoys gardening and exploring nature.
