Aaryn Lee, born in 1987, practices in drawing, mixed-media, printmaking, installation, and time-based media. Her art, characterized by repetition, layers, and muted tones reflecting her Pacific Northwest roots, explores memory, ritual, meditation, body dysmorphia, and the female experience. She uses a somatic approach rooted in experimentation.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and now based in Huntsville, Alabama since 2013, Aaryn holds a BA in Art: Art History with a Studio Concentration from Portland State University, and a MFA in Visual Art from Lesley Art + Design, where she received the Stauch-Mosse Merit Scholarship. She's exhibited in solo and group shows at venues such as the Gadsden Museum of Art, The University of Alabama in Huntsville, The Lunder Arts Center, Lowe Mill, Gallery 360, Huntsville Hospital, and Gallery 1:11. Aaryn is an adjunct professor at The University of Alabama in Huntsville and The University of North Alabama.
