Tallahassee, FL
Amanda Kleinhans is a queer, fat interdisciplinary artist living in Tallahassee, FL. Kleinhans received their BFA in Studio Art (Sculpture & Ceramics) with an Art History minor from the University of Southern Mississippi and MFA in Studio Art from Florida State University. Along with being an arts educator, they use their research to inform their curatorial endeavors. Their work brings the fat body and the fat experience to the forefront by confronting audiences with how the two are perceived within modern society. Although we are in the throes of the "body positivity" movement, there is a lapse in fat acceptance. Through their work, Kleinhans calls out these oversights and seeks to find resolutions.
