I chose to do a rose painting because my middle name is Rose. I was given this name because roses have been important to my family for a long time. My Great-Grandpa always had rose bushes planted for my Great-Grandma. He would cut them and bring them inside for her. My Grandpa also has rose bushes planted and so does my Mom. I chose to use acrylics because it is textured. I used chalk pastels to tint and shade. I did three paintings together because I wanted to show different ways to see a rose. The famous artists I was inspired by were Georgia O'Keefe for the close-up rose, Jackson Pollock for the splatter painted rose, and Mary Cassatt for the rose in the vase. I think it was really fun to do my painting.
