Jackson Penn

My name is Jackson Penn, and I am a Junior at the Academy for the Arts, Science, and Technology (AAST). I am currently in my first of two years in the Advanced Art Major program at AAST, and the environment of this program is already providing me with invaluable experience for how to operate in the world of professional arts. By working in a studio environment on pieces to be sent into a variety of competitions, we are taught how to produce quality artworks under the strict submission deadlines of the different competitions. This early exposure to the world of professional arts has prepared me for, not only my college life, but my professional life as well. This year I was awarded first place in the 11th grade 2D art category at the South Carolina State Fair art competition. As a growing artist, my skill set is still developing, and, with it, my artistic style. At the moment, I would say that my art style is variety. I have worked in many different mediums, and I plan to continue to do so throughout my time in the major, until my style solidifies and my range of mediums narrows.
