What is art? I based my composition on artist, Marcel Duchamp, a French conceptual artist. I'm fascinated by his questioning of what makes art... art. In my piece, "Ode to Duchamp,” I created a modern representation of his work “Fountain." I used a white gel pen on black paper to create a stark contrast between the toilet and the background. As I continue to grow as a young artist, I will strive to keep seeking a deeper meaning and the artistic values within everyday objects.
