Historical examples of art telling stories has inspired me along with my artwork. A historical reference that contributed to the idea of my artwork is the stained glass in church windows to teach illiterate churchgoers about Biblical ideas. The photograph "Napalm Girl" by Nick Ut is a historical image that has great significance and tells the viewer a story of the Vietnam War. My painting "8221 AJ" demonstrates this concept. For my artwork, I asked people to write on my painting what they thought the story was behind the boy and his car to allude to the theme of the painting. Through my artistic process, I learned that art means something different for everyone.
