Artist Statement

I was inspired to make this because I've always loved butterflies. When I was told to design a box out of clay, butterflies was the first thing that came to mind. I wanted to make it colorful, shaped like a butterfly, and carve floral designs on the sides. The most challenging part for me was getting the lid to fit the box. It's now my favorite piece I've made in art class.

Abby Heusinger

My name is Abby Heusinger. I am in 9th grade and attend Stratford High school. I play for their Volleyball and Soccer team. I love painting and my favorite way to show my love for people is making them something special only I can give them. I like to make them a painting, handmade cards, or just anything creative. This year, I took the 3-D design class at my school to see how I would like it and I'm glad I did. I thought it was really fun, and It helped open my mind to new techniques.
