Recently I’ve gotten into sewing, and I wanted to test my limits by creating this piece, but I didn’t want to just sew something out of fabric. I wanted to make something that I love that uses miscellaneous objects. I went to a few places to look for materials; Goodwill, T.J. Maxx, and my art drawer. At Goodwill I found beautiful wooden table mats, which is what I made the corset piece out of, and I found an old bra that I used to build as a guide for constructing the top. At T.J. Maxx, I purchased a tote bag that I used as a base for the whole look. Finally, in my art drawer, I found old stamps and laces that I thought would look absolutely stunning. But I wasn’t done after that. I loved the idea of having a deeper meaning for making this other than cuteness, so I added some of my grandmas knick knacks onto it. Just looking at it, you wouldn’t know that it had generations of hidden treasures all over it.
