We all have had dark moments in our lives, ones that make us into who we are. This piece is based on mine. I was bullied when I was younger, isolated and unaccepted by my peers. The girl in the middle represents the lie I showed, pretending to be fine when I wasn’t. The sadness I felt being alone. The world around her depicts everything I bottled up, how I wanted to scream, to cry, to just say something, but I couldn’t. I was scared of how people would react and the stigma that came with being bullied. No one should have to go through that. Every time a heart shatters, it will come back together. Whether or not it's for the better, it is up to you. This moment changed my life, I shattered, but rebuilt myself. I accept people for who they are. I stand up for those who need it. I do what I can because no one else has to go through what I did. I chose to change for the better.
