When I created this piece, I gave myself the task of recycling any form of chair or bench and making it into something new. The idea was to take this particular wooden stool and evolve it into a fantasy forest which had grown from this disregarded stool. I painted the legs of the bench to look like tree trunks with mushrooms growing from them. Because the original wood was so dilapidated, my brain drew to the thoughts of moss and growth. The top was meant to represent the mossy floor of earth’s surface with roots shooting into the ground. My motivation was to take this disregarded broken stool and find new hope and life in it and illustrate the magnitude of nature's magic.
