The Chameleon effect states that people who spend time together will mimic the other's facial expressions, making them look more and more alike. I've spent my whole life with my older sister, Emma. We shared the same room, played the same games, and liked the same things. As a result, we had become inseparable but also indefinable. We played tricks on our other family members, pretending to be the other sister. We switched clothes throughout the day to confuse those around us, and waited to see how long it took before they noticed. As we aged our physical features changed, but our mannerisms and expressions stayed the same. Still, we are frequently mistaken as the other sibling. Often, we will be called by the other’s name, and we have learned to respond to it. Sometimes, we will have full conversations with those who believe that we are the other sister and we simply go along with it, continuing our little game. The lines between Emma and Audrey blur until we are simply one person.
