I created this piece of art in multiple steps. First, I sketched out an organic loose looking octopus and used liquid frisket as a resist to keep some areas white. I used watercolor in a bleeding technique to mix colors. I created the octopus in warm colors and the background ocean in cool colors. With pen and ink, I created outline and create unique patterns/lines throughout. Next, I used an Xacto knife to cut and lift the tentacles to make the octopus appear three dimensional. Finally, I hot glued the tentacles to show depth and movement.
